Okay! You've finally decided to shop around for car insurance and you're getting ready to go online. How can you make this process as easy and fast as possible, while making sure you're getting the best value? Use this handy list to help.
Have the following information handy:
- Drivers license number.
- Social Security Number. This may not be required at the quoting stage, but some companies request it to give you the most accurate quote.
- Make, model and year for each vehicle you want covered. The type of vehicle you drive affects the rate you pay.
- Any safety features on each vehicle, such as Anti-lock Brakes, burglar alarms and air bags. Car insurance companies often give discounts for these features.
- The average mileage each vehicle is driven per day. Your rate may partially be based on how many miles each vehicle is driven.
- Your current auto insurance policy. You may want to get quotes based on the coverages you currently have. If you don't currently have auto insurance, or you need additional coverages for a new driver or new car you'll need to decide the limits for liability you want, what deductible you want, uninsured motorist and other coverages such as comprehensive or rental car reimbursement
